A friend director Linda Notelovitz had shot this little film footage in South Africa and approached me here in NYC to edit this piece remotely. While sifting through the footage we discovered Cynthia’s, the subject of the film, sweet, soulful and kind person despite her homelessness and drug addiction. She shines through her adversity like the stars that give her inspiration and the gentleness of her spirit. Such a lesson to the many of us with so much more. I used the old film scratches and framing to enhance the rawness of her character and also illustrated by the rough nature of the sound and to not use gloss to soften the trueness of her wonderful and almost unblemished outlook.
