The first taste of beauty I’ve encountered was my mother.
From her brown skin to every curl and coil in her hair. She was the definition of beauty to me and still is.
I always wondered why there is even a standard of beauty. It always felt odd to me. I felt odd when Black women weren’t really included in the so-called standard of beauty. I want to change that.
I want to showcase Black women in different industries that made an impact in the world but an impact on my life in some shape or form. It’s an ongoing project that stemmed a Black History Month piece I’ve done for Kay & Black (https://www.instagram.com/p/BucTmiwBhYt/). I wanted to show that Black Women aren’t monolithic and we are beautiful.
This evolved my passion project turning into an initiative I want to start up within the next couple of months.
I want to squash every stigma in any way I can and it is a part of my journey on this earth.
