Why become a sponsor?
To bring the original, inventive, and gifted works of creatives out into the world to be seen.
Where does the money go?
A few places. Firstly, the website. Our Gallery and Library hold over 500 entries (and are continuously growing as more submissions come in). Secondly, various plug-ins that allow us to operate the site efficiently.
In our first two years, submission fees covered our expenses. However, our desire to create something with a low barrier of entry that could be enjoyed by all drove us to eliminate entry fees. This also meant we had to get rid of prize money.
What will sponsors allow us to do?
As mentioned, running the site from a purely technical standpoint costs money. So keeping The Side Show online is the primary goal.
Other benefits of being fully funded include holding regular in-person and virtual events with industry leaders, small stipends to compensate staff for their time and prevent burnout, and creating a permanent home for creativity that isn’t paid for by clients.
How much traffic does The Side Show get?
In the first year since The Side Show launched under its current gallery format, the site has had over 22k page views. The first two years the site existed we had over 50k. We believe as we continue to build out the site with additional offerings and events, these numbers will increase.
