Jol Heath
"Jol" rhymes with y'all. It's short for "Jolly" which is a long story of a family nickname for "Oliver". Upon introduction as "Jol", most people think he's saying, "Joel" which he finds irritating, yet understandable. One time, someone actually thought his name was "Jowl". Because of this, he often just goes by "Jolly" however this often prompts people to ask if it is indeed his "real name", and then the Oliver story has to be told.
He's been drawing since he called it coloring. When he went off to college, his only plan was to "do something with art", but he didn't think he was interested in "commercial art". That was for sell outs and he was a "real artiste", so his fancy BFA got him a lot of construction and restaurant jobs. Luckily, he discovered The Creative Circus, and fell in love with art direction and "concepting" with writers and the whole creative side of advertising.
Jol has worked as an art director, but also as a designer and illustrator at a couple of largish agencies, a few mediumish ones, and is now at a smallish one in Wilmington, N.C. Recently, he threw out 99% his book and went back to school to start a new one. It's a long story, but he'll tell you all about it at jollyheath19@gmail.com. He's still working on his new book, but you can see what he's done so far atwww.jolheath.com.
His assessment of writing in the third person is that it's "kinda weird", but wanted to try it, and he apologizes for his exorbitant use of quotation marks.
